Rural tourism in India encompasses the reality of true Indian culture. It is one of the most realistic parts of Indian tourism. Up till the year 2015, 153 rural tourism projects in 28 States/Union Territories have been sanctioned by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, including 36 rural sites where UNDP has supported capacity building.
